Daily Hacks To Improve Your Health with Wellbeats instructor Christina S.

Sleep Hygiene

Sleep is just one area of life where simple choices can produce incredible results and healthy habits that allow you to feel younger and live longer. Incorporate the following sleep tips to improve your wellbeing:

  • Use an alarm clock to wake up and store your phone in a different room at night.
  • Turn off the TV and other electronics at least 60 minutes before bed.
  • Wear an eye mask to help darken your space and reach REM sleep faster.
  • Sleep at least 7-8 hours per night to help your immune system function at its best.

Daily Movement

Move your body at least 20-30 minutes per day with an increased heart rate. Work with a trainer alongside your physician if you have limitations to make sure proper precautions are in place.

Nutrition and Hydration

No matter your age, these nutrition tips can prove to benefit you in countless ways:

  • Reduce inflammation by consuming more Omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Get ample magnesium, also known as the relaxation mineral.
  • Focus on gut health by adding fermented foods, prebiotic and probiotic-rich foods.
  • Watch your B12 levels; deficiency could result in depression, memory loss, and incontinence.

In addition, focus on hydration! Water is essential. Our bodies are made of 60% water, so replenishing the supply is critical to our organs. Consume about half your body weight in ounces each day as a guide to help you get enough water.

Prioritize Fun and Connection

Life is meant to be enjoyed, and de-stressing is key to enjoying life. In fact, chronic stress leads to inflammation, and it’s the foundation for every age-related disease. By having fun and connecting with others, you can reduce stress and even live longer!

For example, Sardinia, Italy, is home to some of the world’s longest-living humans. Countless studies have revealed that people in this Blue Zone area are surrounded by family, friends, neighbors, and friendly strangers as they age, directly correlating to living longer, happier lives.

Social connection has been found to lead to increased happiness, better health, and living longer.

Focus on the Future

Kick guilt out of your life and be future-minded. Guilt and regrets are part of the past. Evolving and changing is how we stay young.

Making small changes to your day-to-day life can result in significant lifestyle changes over time. And Wellbeats is here to support you every step of the way!
